Limbo is an independent singer-songwriter from the San Francisco Bay Area who has been performing, composing, recording, producing, mixing and mastering her own songs since 2013. She is adept at fusing the pop and r&b beats she creates with lo-fi sounds and dream pop, turning out beguiling results. The public have taken note, with her track “Airplane Mode” becoming a popular sample on apps like TikTok and Instagram, and also a heavily viewed YouTube video with over 8.5 million plays.
Limbo has released four albums, two EP’s, and countless singles and collaborations, most recently issuing Cloud Nine in January 2019. She’s played with Joey Pecoraro at The Echo and Ryan Hemsworth at The Union, two revered venues in Los Angeles, and has also headlined shows in San Francisco, Oakland, New York, Houston, Dallas and Nashville. Limbo is also a major fan of all things Japanese and fulfilled a long running ambition by playing in Shibuya, Tokyo to a rapt audience.
While she has received much talk due to the fact that she performs with her face obscured by a cat mask, and has posted little to no information about herself online, it is important to note that this is not a gimmick or joke. In fact, it is part of her appeal. What matters is the music, not her appearance. So sit back, listen, and just let the mystery be. You’ll like what you hear.
As of this writing, Limbo is currently recording and creating new sounds for future projects and albums while organizing her first USA tour.
